Comedian George Carlin Dies At 71
60George Carlin, America's risque comedian has died (June 22nd 2008). It was recently announced that George would, on November 10th, receive this years mark Twain prize for American humor.
This was quite something for a comedian who had already been in trouble for his ‘Flithy Words' routine and shook the the powers that be by pushing censorship to the limit.
Past winners of this prestigious award are such famous names as Richard Prior, Whoopi Goldberg and Steve Martin.
Carlin did a lot to fight censorship on American TV and radio and will be much missed by his fans.
The 71 year old died in Santa Monica from heart failure.

Carlin was best known for his political humor and his jokes about language, religion and other subjects that caused controversy.. His '7 Dirty Words' comedy routine gave rise to a case in 1978.
George Carlin's most popular comedy routines were about the changes in America. He attacked the flaws in modern-day society. Contemporary issues and American culture were the very substance of his routines.
A great comedian known not only in America but throughout the world.
